So What Is 1st Time The 2nd Time Around?

Some people may read the title of my blog and say it's a contradiction.  How can it be the first time the second time around?  Well when it is in regards to my role as a father it is possible.  My wife is currently pregnant with our second child.  And with this pregnancy comes so many new experiences.  For the first time I got to hear the heartbeat of my child while still in the womb.  For the first time I was able to see my child grow from just a little speck to a complete whole child with arms and all.  For the first time I was able to feel the baby kick.  But how are all of these firsts when this is my second child?  Well this is my first biological child.

My first child is technically my stepchild.  The relationship between my wife and I first started almost 7 years ago.  At the time we were both 21 years old and my step daughter was only 6 months.  This marked my first time around as a father.  With my first child I experienced almost everything a normal father will experience.  I have seen my child go through all the milestones.  And I have enjoyed every step of the way.  Now 7 years into my role as a father I thought I experienced all a father with a 7 year old could experience.  To my surprise I was wrong.

So this is where it all starts.  This is my 1st time the 2nd time around.  If it still doesn't make sense I hope to make more sense with the entries to come.
